Your Care Team

At Newman Memorial Hospital, a team of health care professionals work with you and your family to achieve the best possible outcome.

Nursing care is coordinated by a registered nurse (RN). The RN will oversee the interdisciplinary care plan and monitor your progress toward your care goals and/or outcomes. Your nurse communicates changes in your condition to your attending physician to request changes in your plan of care. It is important that you report any changes in your symptoms and that you do not hesitate to ask the nurse to contact your physician any time you have questions about your treatment plan.

Diet plays a very important role in your health. When needed, a registered dietician reviews your nutritional needs to ensure that your body is receiving enough nutrients to promote your recovery.

Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapists are available to assist you with any special needs you may have. The health care team recognizes that general mobility and walking after surgery and during hospitalization are extremely important to prevent complications such as blood clots or pneumonia.

The pharmacy works closely with doctors, nurses and other caregivers to ensure that you receive the right drug and the right dose. An experienced pharmacist reviews your medication regimen on a regular basis, monitoring for drug interactions, dose adjustments or side effects. Pharmacists play a critical role in preventing medication errors. Our pharmacists and technicians are highly trained professionals who are familiar with complex medication management.

The Case Manager will meet with you to aid in Discharge Planning, which begins on admission. He/she will communicate needs or concerns with your physician and work towards a discharge date. He/she will also help to arrange equipment, care and anything else you may need at home after hospitalization. He/she can also assist in the
transition to another health care facility if needed.

Our first priority is to provide you the care you need, when you need it, with skill, compassion and respect. Tell your caregivers if you have concerns about your care or if you have pain. You have the right to know the identity of doctors, nurses and others involved in your care, and you have the right to know when they are students, residents or other trainees.

Our goal is to always make your experience as comfortable and positive as possible.
